Today, I saw on the bus 2 secondary students fiddling with a graphic calculator, trying all sorts of numbers, equations and they were fascinated with the results. Times have really changed. When I was their age, I had more interest in a basketball than a normal calculator. Although a graphic calculator boasts more functions than a normal one, I doubt it would have caught my eyes anyway.And apparently, teenagers have become more 'outspoken'. They learnt how to talk back to teachers. Teaching is somehow the worst profession now. Its a no brainer why they keep having to recruit more. You have to deal with delinquents, maintain a 'clean' image, over protective parents who lodge complains at the slightest touch you land on the child. Thats not all. This habit has also manifest itself in the army. My brother came home the other day, lamenting a recruit of his scolded "Fuck you" when he reprimanded him on an error. Of course that warrant a confinement, and maybe more severe in a unit. Myself? No way I would do that. Its not only the punishment that deters me, but its just wrong. But I wonder, have I really done it to yoyo before? You people remind me please.
