Met this impudent bus driver on 198 who demanded to check my concession card upon hearing the double tone. Im like, "What the hell? Do I look like the kind who cheat?". I intended to show him my concession card along with my middle finger, and an additional, "Take that asshole." But of course I didnt since there were quite a few elderly on the bus and I dont want them to think young adults now are ill-bred. Recall the incident when a Hwa Chong student punched the bus driver? Now I believe his actions were justifiable if that bus driver behaved in the same manner too.Coincidentally when I was going home, no I didnt meet the same driver, it just so happen I witnessed this auntie who, under the cover of the crowd, scanned her card before her destination and pretended as thought it was the most normal thing to do. Now who should the bus drivers, oops no, bus CAPTAINS, be aware of? Aunties or Students? You choose. Friday, October 10, 2008, 10:18 AM
Demoralized after receiving my mid term result for maths. In university where your grades is relative to the entire cohort, it is intimidating to see people obtaining 80, 90 marks effortlessly. People who are able to get admittance into university arent stupid, its just a comparison to see who's smarter. Now I know where I stand, I'll just have to work harder.Note this does not guarantee a good grade, refer to previous post, but at least I can proudly said I've done my best. Dr Bettens, my CM 1101 principle of modern chemistry lecturer, said today in lecture that "Hard work does not warrant good grades, it just improves your probability of getting a good grades". Once again, as usual, with the mention of phrases like "put in effort", "hard work", I was reminded of Edison. Why so? Not that I have secret fetish for him, but for he is the epitome of assiduousness during my NS time. What Dr Bettens said might be crude, but this is how realistic this society is. No one gives a darn how much effort you put in, what matters ultimately is what you can produce. How often do we hear Edison lamenting about not getting what he thinks he deserved despite pouring his heart and soul into accomplishing a particular task? Perhaps it was during the reign of candyboy when he was rewarded as long as he has put in effort that gave him the false impression that society functions in a similar manner too. Ooo.. I ran out of things to say or rather what I wanted to say next might be not pleasant to read and I think I better not. |
