The contract that has shackled me to that sweatshop has finally expired, and so updates to this almost abandoned and forgotten blog will be regular once again. =DTuesday, April 08, 2008, 8:35 PM
Finally, preparations for my orthognatic surgery has entered the final phrase. From what I heard from my dentist, it would most probably be scheduled in late July if time permits, if not it would be during my term break. The surgery is a major one and to claim I do not have any trepidation would be a lie. Coupled with tales of failed surgeries with dire consequences from my cousin who underwent the same surgery almost a decade ago (he is in his early thirties now), it was almost sufficient for me to get cold feet. The consolation would be of course, the vast advancement in medical technology which render equipment and surgical methods 10 years ago obsolete. Despite my apprehensiveness, Im anticipating the result of a successful operation. The greatest advantage of jaw surgery is that besides improvement in the bad bites, the facial aesthetics is greatly enhanced with harmonisation of the face. Most patients have increased self esteem and confidence. Most of you wouldnt understand what I have been going through the past 20 years and this would be the chance to change it all. |
