I made several observations during the course of my work so far.99% of the workers are PRCs, 1% Malaysians and 0.0000000000000001% Singaporeans, so much so they are be disregarded. Cheap labour, anyone? PRCs are very fascinated with Malays and Indians. Skin colour? PRCs are very zealous workers. They work 100000 times faster than the average Singaporean. Not Br-ionman though. He's invincible and undefeated. Edison? Sorry no chance. Certain lady with uncanny resemblance to encik, not the appearance, but the behaviour. Both are single, too. In army we hear "Half left down" and "go back" all the time. Here, we get "Today OT ar". No room for negotiations. Any objections would be met with a frown. Temporary workers quit on the average after 3 days of work. The prospect of OT everyday is daunting. Only me and the other guy who completed NS has been able to endure so far. See? Army is not totally useless afterall. Lastly, Im getting fat. Lost the time to run 3 weeks ago. Marathon is in jeopardy. Friday, March 14, 2008, 8:24 PM
Its not that I dont want to update my blog. Its just my mind goes blank whenever I want to post something and I just scrape the idea totally. Worn out by an entire day of work, sleeping would be my first priority.Anyway, my work sucks big time. The working hours that is. I have been working almost 6 days a week, almost 12 hours a day. It wasnt voluntarily. I was tricked into it. The clause in the contract stated "you are expected to work overtime as and when necessary". I didnt expected it to be everyday. Who would? The manager, I reckoned, made a speech today about the deteriorating standard of the products manufactured. It's not surprising, considering all the workers are underpaid and overworked. To err is human, and the probability of making a blunder when insufficient rest is rendered. To you unemployed people out there, dont ever think of working for a company in the Alexander area. You will regret your actions. I have. |
