Some divine being must have heard our prayers, or pity our woeful state of having outfield in the last week of national service and has intervened to shorten the outfield from an initial 3 days 2 nights to just 1 day 1 night. To cancel the exercise altogether would be best, but that possibility would never happen. Nevertheless, I am still not convinced to perform for this exercise. I have done my part during ATEC stage 2 and Im not obliged to replicate that form for this. And yet again by an evil twist of events, I have once again been implicated in a 24hrs guard duty. The cause of this and the previous duty was none other than selfish nature of certain people. One must realize escaping from the clutches of the tyrant in my company is already a privilege itself. Yet such narrow-minded person who entire world revolves around himself and perhaps his mini other half, spare no thought for the others and chose to play the disappearing act. Doesnt his conscience prick him at all, for the reserve who only ORD in march has to do his dirty work? Oh, I forgot he doesnt have one. Anyway, here comes your friendly neighborhood 'bloody note' to the rescue =D. My conscience isnt devoured by some barbaric beasts and I, no matter how reluctant, wouldnt want to see a fellow friend fall into a pit dug by some malicious foe. Haha what a great sense of righteousness I possess. Im immensely proud of myself =P. The feeling of resentment isnt as intense as the previous, for ORD is in a week and I will get 3 days in return for this duty. Not that bad a trade huh? 10 days to ORD Monday, January 21, 2008, 4:44 PM
The rumour has materialized. Outfield will span from 30th Jan to 1st Feb. I am extremely delighted. Which other unit offer one a 3 days exercise right within the week of ORD? Extreme protests and violent objections were in vain, not that it will ever work in the SAF, but the sheer nonchalance of OC's answer "Im only asking for your feedback" infuriated everyone in the company. What is the use of gathering feedback when the chance to turn over the decision of an outfield is prospectively nil? This in fact was also an eye-opener. I never thought any other than our platoon could nurse such a deep hatred, as 1 other displayed in his veracious lambaste of the unit in front of a captain. No doubt, the truth hurts. This whole idea of outfield, stimulating conditions similar to that of ATEC, has prompt me to conclude this is a re-ATEC, minus the evaluators. It is apparent our ATEC result was appalling, to be candid, it was the worst result ever obtained in the past 10 years or so. It speaks alot of the capability of you know who. Time and again they have deluded themselves that they are capable, yet when the real test come, fumbled and screwed it up. This outfield may be the last opportunity to redeem themselves. Of course, this is done at the expense of the subordinates. Who carries the heavy signal set? Who digs the shell scrape? Who does all the encoding and decoding of messages? The answer is unanimous. I do sympathize with my fellow comrades. After all, ORD is imminent. The february batch are freed from further atrocity dish out by ungrateful b**t**ds. ORD LOH! Take that, encik. 15 days to ORD Wednesday, January 16, 2008, 5:58 PM
Im posting this in response to hancong's claims of more outfield exercises to come in the next 3 weeks. When I saw his comment on my tagboard, I feared for the worst. I refused to commit to that statement, hoping it would be nothing but a rumour. How naive and forgetful I was. I have forgotten I am still in one of the most hypocritical and unpredictable place ever, at least for 3 more weeks. It is almost impossible to believe any of their promises.I cannot fathom the true purpose of this antic. Someone higher up said we wont want to ORD with a atrocious outfield result. I'll say thats crap. Everyone knows every NSF adopts the policy of serving 2 years and fu*k off. Who cares about leaving a legacy or not? 20 days to ORD Saturday, January 12, 2008, 10:26 PM
I apologize to avid readers of my blog who are patiently awaiting this post. Without any further ado, here it is.ATEC stage 2 for this battalion is a catastrophe waiting to eventuate. Being one of the last major exercise of the mono, it would also present the opportunity for the culmination of all hatred and frustrations everyone harbor for this foul place to finally erupt. And what a magnificent implosion it was. I cant hurl random accusations for this flop but the culprits are definitely not us. We have erected and maintained a relative splendid structure of communication. This was the exercise unsung heroes proved their worth. An honorable mention would be yao kun, being previously shadowed by the almighty brian aka ironman chan mary jane watson and neglected by S2, finally attained the final form of bankai and displayed his marvelous signal skills. His tenacity and diligence has gained some form of recognition from BSO. Hrm.. is edi... oops jealous? Bahhh I've digress too much. Allow me to continue on my lambaste of this abysmal event. ATEC stage 2 is all about the planning of 'you know who' and the execution of the plan. Well, the results of the evaluation says it all. It revealed the severe lack of competency. To prove my point, his plans were all heavily criticized by the evaluators. How he attain his current position is an enigma. Without convincing the people of their ability to lead, the rest of the battalion crumbled. The rifle coys showed no evidence of their enthusiasm to fight and their performance was lacklustre. That was all that was required for a lousy result. Anyway, to endure this grueling exercise and come this far is a laudable achievement. Time in camp is running out, and the friendship forged during this time would be something to evoke poignant emotions in me when I leave. 24 days to ORD! Sunday, January 06, 2008, 1:15 PM
It happened. ATEC stage 2 was a disaster but the culprits arent us, although I have somehow psycho-ed the rest to somehow sabotage the mission (refer to last paragraph of previous post). But even if we had intended to screw it up, it wouldnt be successful because the people under scrutiny isnt us.I shall reveal my sentiments and several events that ensued tomorrow since my body is urging me to take a long overdue rest. I have just clocked less than 10 hours of sleep for the duration of the 4 day long exercise. Stay tuned for the post tomorrow. 25 days to ORD! WEeeE Tuesday, January 01, 2008, 5:22 PM
Delaying the book in timing from the usual 2230 to 2330 doesnt relieve the stinking feeling of booking in, especially when the probability of getting confined for the next weekend in, so called, preparation for ATEC is really high. A quote from a fellow platoon mate, 'this battalion is a pack of lies', and so far this sentence is justified by various actions taken by 'the one' all in the name of getting ready for war. I shant elaborate on the details, everyone knows what Im refering to.There isnt any memorable events in the previous year. Not when you're still serving NS and your mind clouded by incessant threats by CSM. 'If not I charge you!' whenever he demands something to be done and "where you going" coupled with a frown that would even put Brian's to shame when he interrogates people who are given a well deserved off. I would say there would be a bad start to the year 2008, being ATEC scheduled right in the second week of January. Nevertheless this would be the swan song, if we disregard brigade live firing. It would not be easy, for this final challenge is notorious for its gruelling missions and the lack of opportunity for rest. My fellow platoonmates, lets not forget this has no significance on our future and let us do what a true NSF should be doing. I hope you people catch what I mean. =D 35 days to liberation |
