Sergeant ORDed last friday, not officially, but he gets almost a month of leave before he returns to camp for the final time to get his I/C. While majority of the platoon rejoice over his departure, I beg to differ.Others claim his demands are unreasonable, some complained that they are always the victims of his wrath. I would like to rebut that without his so-called tyranny, things would not be done up to CSM's standards, thus incurring his wrath. Antagonising CSM is the most stupid decision one can ever make because he turns berserk and goes in a rampage. And for those people who claims that they are always getting scolded, they dont even examine the reason for that scolding. Who on earth would scold others for no obvious reason? All they do is grumble, complain and forget all about their errors and commit them again. The cycle continues. A good commander needs to draw the line clearly between a friend and a authorative figure. He must know when to assume the correct role. In my opinion, sergeant fulfilled that and hence, earns my respect. Our current sergeant now, well, is more of a friend than a commander. I could already anticipate some of the troubles we are running into. Of course, my platoon doesnt think of that. They think he's going to be a great commander. One ORD personnel cried after the ORD parade. It brings back fond memories from secondary school when I had a 'ORD' ceremony as well. Of course it was hard to part with people who had endured taxing physical trainings with you, consoled you when you're down, encouraged you when you thought you couldnt take it anymore and rejoice together when victorious. For those people who downgraded from a combat vocation even though they are perfectly well i.e paid to get downgraded, that day would be just like any ordinary day. They wouldnt be proud of their achievement because they have none. As I mentioned before, running away isnt the solution to every problem. Yet, more people are turning to that path. Our platoon size has dwindled from 22 to a current 18 now. I fucking despise people who contemplate that thought or those who downgraded even though they are well. Anyway tomorrow marks the day when I have exactly 1 year till ORD. 366 to ORD |
